“Thanks to the V-Clip securing system, we have been able to install the Piterak Slim rainscreen vertically, in accordance with the new seismic and thermal regulations”, explains Guy Rafat, Production Manager at Somiroc Rafat, co-director of Groupe BSRV. An unprecedented installation, penned by architect Patrick Leroy, of Sud Architectes, with the aim of incorporating the buildings into their industrial environment, marked by its vertical lines.
The highly precise layout required adjustments to the corners in order to avoid splitting the magnificent terracotta rainscreens. Even so... Guy Rafat and his teams conceptualised and fabricated corner cladding pieces of different dimensions, constructed from sheet metal or posts painted to match the colour of the rainscreens, in order to compromise for dimensional variations. “For us, it is a passion”, he adds enthusiastically, “it is working in a manner that bears aesthetic in mind. Basically, it’s a haute-couture building!” The result: 2500 m² of façade cladding provides a perfect finish to the twin buildings of Parc Saône.

Park Saône Hotel, Villa Créatis
The Parc Saône project houses a three-star hotel and an office development on the same plot. Sharing the same terracotta rainscreen, the two buildings differ simply in the colour of some 7800 cladding. Parc Saône: haute-couture building

InterviewPatrick Leroy, Sud Architectes, architect for the Parc Saône project
“We love terracotta; it’s inspirational, never goes out of fashion and we know that it ages fantastically well. Yet, it is a material that must be touched, must almost be felt by the Project Manager in order for it to be supported. With an innovative vertical installation and colours far removed from the stereotype of red terracotta, we have shown here that you can create a highly contemporary style with this material.
We also opted to integrate into the hotel façade some grooved white Piterak Slim rainscreens, which generate vibrancy. In this project, the alliance between the material supplier and the installation company was perfect: without the unparalleled know-how of Somiroc Rafat, it would not have been possible to create the elegant curvature of the hotel façade, which follows that of the road. And the result is basically as good as I had dreamed.”
