In Balma city in France, the new school registered its horizontal volumes and stepped into a slope that household unobstructed views to the south. The mix of colours and skins of their terracotta cladding bricks gives them a strong personality. With their elongated format, the bricks enhance the treatment of these walls with horizontal proportions.

The palette of materials used is both rich in the diversity and tightened on the colour scheme, with a play of colours: white, taupe, and brown. For mass effects of the bases that accompany the slopes or opaque walls in counterpoint to the glass surfaces, architects have naturally called solid brick, in one of its noblest expressions.

"We are very committed to the solid brick. This is of course the format that refers the most to authentic tradition of terracotta in Toulouse city but it is also particularly suitable here to reinforce the horizontal volumes of this project and offer a great durability to the walls. The brick material is reinvented to suit to a contemporary aesthetics, with four shades of earth tones and à long length of 40 cm.
